Lei Lani Mitchell
Lei Lani is entering her 9th season as the head coach at Harlem High
School in Machesney Park, IL. She has coached at various levels since
1990, including one year as an assistant at Rock Valley College, and
also worked camps at UW-Whitewater in the mid-90's. Harlem has won two
conference and two regional titles since 1998, & 21 players have earned
all-conference honors, including one MVP. Six Harlem players have gone
on to play college volleyball, while many others have played collegiate
basketball & / or softball. She has compiled at record in her career of
127-118-5. Lei Lani played high school ball for Harlem, and was a
setter for Illinois Wesleyan University. She ended her college career
ranked 6th in the nation for assists per game at the Division III level.
Lei Lani lives in Machesney Park with her mom, Marie, niece, Brandi, and
two dogs, Micky & Rylee. She is excited about starting a program that
will give young athletes in the area the opportunity to learn and love
the game of volleyball at a higher level.
